I don't know how these are constructed, but some AC switches don't work for DC circuits, especially under high currents.

College Vs. Self-Educating

I had 4 years of direct experience for the last job I applied for (software QA), and my lack of degree wasn't an issue, even thoug it was posted as a requirement. I was 25 at the time. That said, I lucked into my first QA job, and had that not happened, my life would be much different right now...

CPU or Mobo broken?

I had similar symptoms, no video, no post beeps, only fans worked on a different board. Turns out I am a victom of the bulging/leaking capacitor issue. How do your caps look?

2nd memory failure within a year

Quick update, After 2 days of good running on the spare RAM, the computer completely died, now there's no POST at all, only spinning fans. Clearing the CMOS didn't help, neither did removing all unnecessary components, and replacing the AGP card with a PCI one. I did notice something new...

2nd memory failure within a year

I built a system based around the ECS K7S5a budget board about 4 years ago. One of the DDR slots on the board didn't work new out of the box, but return shipping would have cost more than the board, so I kept it. It ran great with 1 stick of 512 MB PC2100 Kingston ValueRam for 3 years with both...

I want to launch an application when coming out of hibernation

I may have found something that could do the trick. http://www.rpi.edu/~desimn/suspendtrigger/ I'm open to other suggestions should this not work out. EDIT TO ADD: It works! thanks all.

I want to launch an application when coming out of hibernation

Unfortunatly I'm dealing with an app that detects and exits when I initiate hibernation, thus the need to automatically launch it when the computer wakes up.

CD/DVD-ROM Play/Skip button on front pannel

I'd like my PC to play Audio CDs headless, and know some drives have a Play/Skip button on the front pannel. If I boot my PC (Windows 2000) without any audio CD software launching (Windows Media Player, WinAmp, etc.) and hit that play button on the drive, will the CD start to play? If so, is the...

Workin on a HTPC, and want an app to be launched when woken from suspend, no matter if it was running before or not. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

What's the diameter of a stripper pole?

LOL, yeah that pole is probably close to 4", but a stipper pole is probably close to 2".
