Flash drives slow to be recognized & refuse to dismount

On my Vista sp1 PC, at times, my flash drives take a full minute to be recognized when they are inserted (the box that comes up asking what to do). At times, after using Safely Remove Hardware, the USB eject "sound" takes up to a minute to sound, even though the dialog says its OK to remove...

No "next >>" when I'm logged in

If I'm logged in, I only see one page of posts for any particular category. If I log out, there is a "next >>" at the bottom to go to page 2, etc. I do not see the "next >>" if I'm logged in. Weird. How can this be fixed?

Epox 8kha+ max drive size?

Anyone know if the Epox 8kha+ motherboard supports drives larger than 137GB? I looked on their website but could not find this info. Thanks.

Swap motherboard without OS reinstall?

Minendo: One suggestion in the "Helping Windows Survive a Motherboard Upgrade" was to change your hardware, then boot with the Windows XP disk, point to your existing Windows installation and tell it to do a repair. Sounds like that is worth at try. Thanks.

Swap motherboard without OS reinstall?

I've got a Windows XP Pro machine that I will upgrade to a new motherboard (old: Epox w/amd xp1800, new: Asus K8N w/amd64). Will I need to reinstall the OS or can I expect to just boot into windows after connecting the hard drive? Same question for Mandrake Linux 9.2 :)

Large heat sink, clearance to PSU (Asus K8N-E)

[edit] I intended to post this to the "Unofficial Asus K8N-E thread" but fumblefingered it into a new topic instead... I'm considering either a Thermalright XP-120 or Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu heatsink with the Asus K8N board. From the pictures I've seen, they overhang the top edge of the board...

PC dead, smells burnt

Checked with Epox, they denied my request for an RMA because I had removed the chipset fan and installed a Zalman heatsink, plus the board was out of its 2 yr warranty.

Yes, some of the capacitors tops are bulging a bit, and several have just a tiny bit of yellowish stuff on their tops, like it was just starting to ooz out. It feels kinda powdery, but the PC has been powered off since last night. There was a bit of thermal grease remaining on the heatsink...

The Windows XP logo freeze was the first indication of a problem. Since then I get nothing when I powerup. The PC shows nothing on the screen at all, and emits no beeps at all, I hear no floppy activity, nothing. The motherboard lights do light up, the hard disk spins, and the indicator display...

IBM T40 slow share connects

Just got a new T40. It works great, but when connecting to a share on another machine (same subnet) it takes several minutes to display the explorer screen, the explorer screen just hangs there, all white. When it comes up it's full speed. Same result whether connecting using the machine name...
