why can't heat be used to create energy?

Can it be done? Yes. Is it practical? Not really (with current technologies). You'd be better off building/designing components that put out less heat and are more efficient to begin with than retrofitting an inefficient machine with a recovery system.

According to wikipedia, commercially available flash is good for one million write cycles, and considering that you must erase and rewrite an entire block just to change one bit inside of it, flash will eventually fail. After several years in a heavy use environment, is it not a possibility...

Flash is being developed and shoved into all kinds of situations, and I can see where the failure rate on flash memory might be a problem. Flash does fail eventually...

802.11a/b/g signaling over copper

Does anyone know any reasons why running wireless equipment (802.11b/g, or even 'a') over copper coaxial cable would not work? I know that you can buy 2.4GHz rated coax for use in wiring houses for satellite tv (if it is any better than the plain old cable tv coax). Am I missing something...

Is x86 architecture hampering performance?

I'm a huge mac fan and I love the way they do their systems. Everytime they come out with a new system they always have tear-downs of how the internal architechture works and are always willing to show you how to get the most of out their hardware. Open Firmware is one of my favorite features....

4 Phase Power

Yes, most likely in anticipation of prescott and its enormous power needs. AMD has so far not put out a chip, as far as I know, that exceeds 100 watts of heat dissapation, whereas prescott CPUs put out that much or more, depending on the clock speed, voltage, and so on.

CPU support on Asus P2-99

Are there any FSB (the 100 in 6x100) settings besides 66 and 100? 66x6=396 (really 400), but if you have other FSB settings, try bumping it up. 83 was pretty common on old boards, which could give you 500 mhz.
