Looking at picking up the ASRockFatal1tyx99x for a new build. Just wondering if I need to choose the specific RAM they have listed on their site for the board or should I be okay going with a different DDR4. I was looking at...
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
- Mainly gaming. I play just about everything you can play, but not a competitive FPS type so 60fps has always looked great to me. Prefer the IPS type of displays. Poor frame rate in Fallout 4 and Witcher...
Best game I've played in a long stretch. If you have any interest in cRPGs at all, it's a must have. Now lets hope Pillars of Eternity holds up well on release this winter and I'll be in gaming heaven.
I highly recommend the Requiem mod. Frustratingly difficult early on, great satisfaction for sticking with it as your power grows. I couldn't complete it on vanilla with the unsatisfactory creature/loot leveling. Boring IMO. Requiem makes it more cRPG.
Replaying X-Com now. It's just as much fun as it was back in the day. Hell, the graphics don't even bother me.
Well, I still hate tracking down that last hiding alien though... ugh.
I'm in the exact same situation. It's been hard for me to accept I don't have to upgrade constantly to be a gamer anymore. I just upgraded my gpu (gtx280 to 7870) in my 2008 build. q9550 is at 3.4. Everything has been running great.
Now the problem I'm having is should I do things like...
I'm trying to milk some life out of my 2008 system by doing a few upgrades and overclocking.
I'm currently running Vista64 and would like to upgrade to Win7. I would also like to grab a SSD like the M4.
Can I just buy the SSD, a copy of Windows7, install the drive, put windows7 on the...
Almost 100% positive it'll be your heatsink. Is it one of the pushpin models? I always have a heck of a time getting them set properly. Life is much easier for me with a back plate, screw in variant.
If you're anything like me... use the PC for games and web surfing... the console generation has really helped define when I'll upgrade. I'm still running my 2008 build q9550@3.4, gtx280, and can honestly play just about everything fine. Of course I'm starting to run into some difficulties and...
I'm in a similar situation, trying to make up my mind.
Running a q9550@3.4 with a gtx280. 1920x1200. As a gamer, I plan on holding off a full upgrade until the new consoles hit so I'm going to just try a new card. I can't decide if I should go with something like a 7850/7870, gtx580, or...
Nope.
As a gamer, I'm still running my q9550@3.4 with a single gtx280 form 2008. I'm able to play everything I want on higher settings. I'm just going to pick up something like a 7850 or one of the 670/660ti type cards and stretch out a complete system upgrade until the new consoles hit...
