Getting my Motorcycle lic in a couple week - need advice on starter bike. Update Aug 19 2021

The GS500 is a great choice if it runs well, any carbureted bike is going to be trouble if you don't ride it often enough to keep the carbs clean. As soon as you decide to go with a fuel injected bike, +1000 on the SV650. Had one for 10 years, only issues I ever had were the shifter linkage...

The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive Book 1) [Kindle Edition] by Brandon Sanderson

It took a bit to start drawing me in, but I found myself reading faster and for longer periods as I went. Very well written and I was looking forward to book two by the end. Definitely give it a go if you enjoy epic fantasy.

Why don't we all drive diesel cars? Or at most diesel/electric hybrids?

Lots of great discussion, I'll add one more crazy factor to the list. Diesel evaporates much more slowly than gasoline, which means your Mom/wife/girlfriend gets it on her shoes when she fills up, which means she smells like it until she changes her shoes. She is completely unamused by this...

Car looks great, if only I could get it with a gasoline engine, and without the stupid ipad center stack, for a reasonable price... But then it would be a different car. Good job Motor Trend.

Best Mechanical keyboard for Typist

I bought a Deck keyboard for my wife several years ago, best keyboard either of us have ever seen. I think it is essentially a backlit Das, so if you don't want lighting the Das should be just as sweet.

Just blew 4G of DDR2 Ram

I can't remember buying RAM that didn't have a lifetime warranty. Look into it if for no other reason than to sell some DDR2 off to someone who needs it.

So I autocrossed against a BRZ on Saturday...

I am 6' 5". If I could fit in a Miata I would've bought one years ago. I sat in a BRZ a week ago and was comfortable. Visibility seemed acceptable even, but I'll know more when I drive it.

What does ATG think about the Mazda CX-9?

Cross shopped most everything with three rows for about 18 months, Taurus X is lighter than most, simpler, knocks back 23MPG consistently for us, and is cheap as can be on the used market, being completely unloved. Not as sporty driving as the CX-9 but roomier inside and probably 30-40&#37...

what kind of good cheap 4x4 winter vehicle should i buy?

I'd be looking at a Grand Vitara on your budget. Sidekicks were a good little rig but too light and too short wheelbase to drive at anything over 25MPH on snow covered roads. GV should put you in 4WD for cheap.

Garnet Sanding for Rotors

I am needing to find some garnet paper as well, that or keep turning/replacing rotors every 10k on my POS Celica. Just recently did it again and sprang for new EBC pads, complete fluid flush and replace, still happening. grumble, grumble, grumble
