Hey marklee42. I just built my first desktop a couple of weeks ago, and I was asking for the same thing. Mine came out to less than $800 and runs every game I've thrown at it at ultra (Skyrim, Crysis 1&2, Battlefield 3, Human Revolution). I got everything on NewEgg. The following are my specs...

CORSAIR XMS3 8 GB (2 x 4) - $28 AR - Thoughts/Experiences?

I have that set in my desktop that I made a few weeks ago. They work fine now, but when I ordered them, one of the sticks was faulty. It was a pain to get them replaced, but once I did, it worked perfectly

It turns out the problem with the first time boot was that only vga would work. I bought avga cable at Walmart, did the installation and returned the cable afterwards, since I'm only using hdmi. The problem with RAM was that one of the RAM sticks was faulty out of the box. I got a...

I went out and bought a VGA cable, and connected it...it still didn't display anything. I used a DMS to Vga adapter and connected directly to the graphics card and now it works perfectly. I'm currently installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. My current dilemma is that I only have one stick of 4gb...

Aha. So I took out one of the RAM sticks and it the memok light went away, and the computer beeped. My next question...do I have to use VGA the first time?

Hey guys, so I built the computer, I turned it on, all the fans are working, lights are on, but no video output and there's a red light on on the motherboard. It's the MemOK! switch. I hold it down and it starts blinking and rebooting, but then it just stays on

Dammit. Unfortunately I ordered everything before reading this. I checked and there's no refund for the 2300 and for everything else there's a 15% restocking fee. Luckily I ordered the HD from somewhere else, so that's probably the only thing I'll be able to change :(

Ok, by changing to a 6870 and 2500k, the new cost is $729, which is only $5 more than my original. And this is good enough to not just play games like Battlefield 3 on highest, but also for development? I'll wait a few days before purchasing just in case anyone else comes up with any more...
