Cool, thanks for the response guys - now I know it isn't just me. It would be nice for all the cores to idle around low 30's though.

Yeah, I figured it might be uneven surface on heatsink or CPU, but I don't really want to lap either one of them. I guess I'll try reapplying TIM and reseating the heatsink and see if that does anything.

Q6600 G0 Temps - Too big of a spread?

I'm using Core Temp to get these temps and loading with prime95. I have no problem with 55 C, but I am wondering if the difference between Core 0 and Core 3 is normal or too much.

Acer is running XP. I'll try changing the channels to see if that does anything. And Jack, I know the speeds are "good enough", but I'm not satisfied with "good enough" when I'm paying good money for "better" you know? Not to mention, it's annoying the hell out of me not knowing why the...

What could be the problem?

I've tried connecting the Acer directly, but the speeds were still the same. There's no way I can connect the desktop though since the router is too far away.

I recently got the 10mbps/2mpbs FIOS connection, but am getting varying speed tests and I have no idea why. Over at speedtest.net, I'll get about 10mpbs/1.8mpbs on an older Macbook (2005 model), but on my Acer 4620Z, I get about 1.5mpbs/1mpbs, and on my desktop(using Asus P5K-E Wifi AP to...

Ah, that might be a factor. I haven't installed OS yet but I'll report back once I do. *Edit - Uh, okay. I just flashed the bios and now the temp is idling at 26-27C which seems right. I guess the old bios was REALLY off?

Q6600 temp too high on TRUE-120?

I have a G0 and the TRUE-120 isn't lapped and is stock (it isn't 100% smooth). As for room temp, it's about 70-75 degrees with the window open and cold air coming in. But right now, the mobo, cpu, ram, and vid card are outside of the case. I was flashing the bios after setup so I'm making sure...

Q6600 temp too high on TRUE-120?

I haven't OC'ed or anything yet and the idle temp is at 44-45 degrees celcius in bios. I thought the temp was too high so I unmounted the TRUE-120, cleaned off the thermal paste with alcohol, and did everything again. Idle temp is still 44-45. Is this too high for a TRUE-120?
