I have an older IBM PII 366 and I upgraded to a 20gb hdd. I had no issues.....I would go for it....if you have problems you may have to flash the bios to the latest version, but I wouldn't do that unless you have to.
The service tag is the same as the serial number for dell. I wouldn't worry about the electronic service tag on the systems. If your company has put electronic asset tags, that may be a different story. The asset.com program should work for any dell system (you can do a search under the...

Don't know if there are other manufacturers who have this option.....I'm gonna try it.
I was worried about the bios thing when I got mine, but I haven't had any problems. I have the latest bios and have not had any problems with the multiplier thing either(as you can see below, I'm running at 10.5 multiplier). I would just make sure if you are overclocking to take very small steps...
Does that board lock the pci and agp busses? I had a KK266-r mobo and it used the same chipset and the pci and agp busses weren't locked, so when you overclock you are overclocking the pci bus and agp bus as well. The hard drive is on the pci bus, so that could fry the hard drive if the bus goes...
I don't have the same board, but you might want to make sure that the mobo doesn't require the ram to be in certain slots. I have an NF7-S 2.0 and after some problems, I read the mobo manual again and it stated that with pc3200 memory it can only run in slots 2 and 3.......like I said, I don't...
Ok, so I don't read so good......took a look at the mobo manual and it said that if you are running pc3200 memory.....it MUST be in slot 2 and 3.....sure enough, I changed to those slots and loaded XP and no problems.....prime95 for 22hrs w/ no errors........
:o
Look in your motherboard manual. It should tell you which slots the memory has to be in for it to run dual channel. If it is like mine, there is no setting to change in the bios. You have to make sure the memory is the same size and speed (pc2700 etc.) and make sure and put it in the slot it...
This is a problem I've dealt with a few times....I had a problem with having a cdrw and a dvd drive on the same ide channel, 1 can be dma and 1 has to be pio. I had a problem with the DVD not playing right if it wasn't master w/ dma enabled and cdrw had to have DMA or it was real slow and cpu...
I have the NF7-S 2.0 and I really like it. The atx power connector is not really that big a deal with that case, because you can actually run the cable inside that support bar that runs across the case (right above the latch in the picture). That is what I did on mine and it works well. The...
