The quick-fix approach works. Turning off the firewall centrally nor locally nor both does not eliviate the installation problem. I will post the files for general consumption later this evening. I was thinking this fix would enable nv firewall's IAM. (That little popup app that appears...

Picky motherboard or something else?

In which channels do you have the DIMMs installed? Looking at your mobo's manual (page 21), the safest combo is to go with one in DIMM2 and the other in DIMM4.

Holy Crap

All in all, I'm happy with my A8N SLI. I encountered a few problems during my installation, but most were not directly to do with the motherboard. I still have one firewall issue to sort out before I can say I'll be 100% happy, but I'm pretty contented with the board.

Asus A8N-SLI Delux and sound card problem

Did you disable the mobo's built in sound chip in the BIOS? I believe it's something AC97 Audio? Cheers, Louis.
