Trying to get an AMD Ryzen 5 2600... prices are going up. :(

This is for a Christmas present. They were as low as $109 earlier in the fall... Now the cheapest available is $159. It looks like NewEgg had them for 129 for the weekend, but I missed out... Out of stock before I saw it. What do you all think? Should I grab it for 159 or hope that it comes down...

Weird problem with new build

Thanks, Grimhammer... At this point I wish I had picked some memory off Gigabyte's compatibility list, but it was kind of limiting (as usual). G-Skill's site said this would be an ok match, but I'm not sure what that's based on, exactly. Of course, it could be something completely different.

Weird problem with new build

Almost without exception, *every other* time I turn on the computer, it reboots right after Windows starts loading (as soon as the Windows 7 animation starts). Then Windows asks if I want to start normally etc, and then it crashes again when I continue and so on for ever. If I power the computer...

I do NOT trust rebooting or shutting down Win 2003 servers anymore

I've never had that problem with 2003 Server, and I use it every day. That's usually a BIOS option.... What to do when power is restored: on, off, or previous state.

Windows XP64 and lots of RAM.... does windows use it efficiently?

Um... Actually, Photoshop is a 32-bit application and can only address 4 GB of memory, regardless of how much memory you have in your box. However, it can still help to have more, since you'll have memory left for disk cache and other things running on your computer...

Thanks, and I will, after I get the cable I need. Do yourself a favor when you decide to use your board though.... Make one of those driver disks, enable ACHI before installing, and press F6 or whatever it is during installation. :)

Like I said, I only have eSATA ports connected to the JMicron controller, on the backplane of the motherboard. To connect the rack to it, I would have to run a cable from the back of the computer into the case. It was just some random forum post I read, so that's why I said I don't know if...
