Unfortunately, it's for business purposes, not personal use. That being said though, after having used the 3ware card, I myself would pay the extra for the 3ware cards in my own systems, even if it is their 4 port cards, instead of 12 port.

Idea for a cheap "supercomputer"

It works very well on macs and linux. I don't know about windows however. I would imagine that there is a tool out there that allows you to do it. It's just a matter of how much it costs.
