purchased two of these units ... one came functional ... the other thinks that the USB cable is permanently plugged in ...
Nothing changes it's status ... I e-mailed Buy.com about it and they said it is a refurb ... so too bad so sad ...
All in all though the one that works do so great!
FYI ... I have this memory (4x512 MB) running in a Dell PowerEdge 400SC server being used daily as a desktop and it works flawlessly. No problems whatsoever, it is great budget RAM and works flawlessly.
Just picked up an E1705 from Dell Outlet (1.6 C2D T5200, 1 GB RAM 2 DIMM, 1500 WNIC, 120 GB HDD, 17" Ultrasharp Brightview UXGA+, DVD-RW, 256 ATI Radeon x1400) for $800 ... was looking for something to boost this up to 2 GB of RAM ... fantastic deal ... thanks OP ....
Ha, well I guess I waited too long ... now there are none available anywhere near me for shipment ... I guess that is what I get for trying to order late :(
Damn I know I am delaying on this but the resolution is not such a big thing (doesn't look like it affects my real estate too much) ...
I haven't seen the resolution of the WUXGA e1705 so I was just going with it because I tend to keep everything on my screens small to maximize my real estate...
Redbeard,
That was kind of what I was thinking but the more I thought about it the more I kept talking myself out of it and saying eventually Dell will run a special ... eventually Dell will run a special. For some reason, I am running out of eventually's.
Let me be the stupid one to pose a stupid question here ....
I have been holding out for a deal on a Inspiron e1705/9400 with the Truebright ultrawide screen but there has been little movement on them or even the ones in the outlet.
So now I have been considering this as a replacement for...
:sigh:
Ah if this had been a few years ago at this price it would have been great ... taking care of my disabled wife now SERIOUSLY hurts the finances (in the negatives every month) ... so as much as I would love to pick this up as an upgrade, it's a no fly zone ...
But awesome deal...
Damn, I was hoping this might be for PC133 Notebook memory, I am working on an old Dell Latitude CpX for a friend that only has 64MB of RAM and it is KILLING me LOL
