tried the same hdmi on my dell with a dvi adapter, same screwed up colors, straight vga connection looks fine, so must be the cable.

HTPC HELP

Running a gigabyte mobo with hdmi out to a Hitachi rptv about 5 years old, model 57uwx20b, video card is hd 3200. I'm running hdmi to the dvi port on the tv. I get a clear picture with xbmc, but it is washed out, very dull color, I've tried every setting in ati control panel with no luck...

e8400 to q6600 quad

It is all about the price for me, i would like to have a quad core, and 189 bucks gets me the Q6600, I think I will just keep what I have now, the 8400 does fine for me, even at stock speeds. I also dont like going from 45nm to 65. This chip should last a couple more years before it starts...

I do alot of video encoding, so I'm sure it would be faster for that. Maybe I will wait for a quad til I build a new rig..

HTPC downstairs, tv upstairs . possible?

so if i was running sage tv on my xp machine downstairs, i could get the sage tv extender for upstairs, and hook it to my workgroup switch for network access, but how would the pc downstairs change the channels on the Directv Set top box upstairs? I know the tuner cards come with ir blasters...

I would like to keep the htpc downstairs out of sight, are there any products that would make this easier, without extremely long cables and drilling holes? I have directv. any help appreciated greatly.
