You mean like HD-DVD? Sony and its proprietary Blu-Ray would beg to differ.

Higher performance with less heat to vent? Yes, I'm satisfied. Quite satisfied. Of course, I made a massive upgrade from a five-year-old rig, so anything would have been enormous, but I do like the low power draw.

While locking to 30 FPS is awful, what bothers me more is this: "the PC version of the game will be identical to the console versions"

4K Monitors thread

Anyone have firsthand experience with the Acer one with G-Sync? I'm considering it as an alternative to the Swift, which I've had a problem with vertical striping that I'm not sure if is just a defect, or is more fundamental to the panel. If it is fundamental, I'll be looking for another...

Probably because G-Sync is here now, and A-Sync is not? There's also the assumption that A-Sync implementation will be equivalent in performance, one we have no way of knowing until A-Sync actually shows up in a functional form.

I love how I make a post telling you your assessment was too simple, and your response is telling me I'm making it out to be too simple, and then tell me it's simple. This is not a simple blending, and using the term does not fully describe what is actually being used. Dictionary definitions...

Asus Gtx 780 Ti DirectCuII vs Gtx 980 reference - question.

If you can get a full refund on the 780Ti you should probably do it. 980 is faster for less money. Keep in mind you can always overclock the reference 980, and get better performance than an overclocked 780Ti. Overclocking headroom so far has been reported to be very high on the 980.

Oh come on. In the past several months nearly every time someone comes with a "What GPU should I buy?" question and has any hint of an indication of wanting to be efficient with their budget, the forum recommended an AMD product. That may change with 970, but you can't deny that history. I...

Nvidia's MFAA demo (BF4)

It's not even remotely close to that simple. Blending means you take pixel n-1, pixel n, calculate the average, and display as the new pixel n. That's not what they're doing.

There is a difference, though. Nvidia is outselling AMD nearly two to one. A weakness in one particular product is much less threatening to them as a result. Damage to Nvidia would bring parity - the same damage to AMD could bring complete failure.

Weren't the previous 4k 28" ones $700? Not too bad of a markup. Makes for an interesting choice between this and the Swift, though.

ATI R9 295X2 or 2x GTX 980 SLI for 4k

One of the reviews showed comparable performance between 970 SLI and 295X2. For $660. I can't remember which review it was now though... 980 SLI should beat it easily.
