How do I know if I my power supply is fried/dead? HELP!

Thanks that worked. Do you think they did the same thing in the shop without me noticing? I had the impression that the mobo displayed the CPU as a 2400+ at first boot.

I popped the CMOS battery out and back in and it posts now. my confusion is, why is the mobo saying its a 1800+ ? SHouldnt it boot up fine with a FSB 266 and multiplier X7.5? Why did it show up as a 2400+ in the shop? its a jumperless model, so it looks like everything is controlled in the bios.

I just upgraded the mobo and cpu on my pc. When they booted the motherboard with their equipment at the store, the pc said it was running a 2400+ at bootup. During my installation, I reset the CMOS and it booted up with my old equipment fine but the pc said it was running a 1800+ at bootup. I...

No. It is very random. sometime it freezes/reboots even before windows gets going.

As per your recommendation, I swapped the RAM into the unused slot. PC worked fine all day yesterday. Today, PC rebooted 4 times already. grrr! My CPU is running at under 40C so I dont think that's the problem.

You can find out the store number by using the Store Locator on their website. then try to match it up with the number on your receipts or better yet, the number listed on shelf tags at that same store. This would help us track down what store that shelf tag came from.

Inexplicable random freeze-ups; could it be the mobo?

Running Celeron PPGA 500 without a CPU Fan

The clips just broke on my CPU fan. If I run this old cpu without a fan, will I fry the CPU? Do you have experience if frying your PPGA celery without a fan? How long do I haVe before it smokes?
