Help Select PCI Video Card for older Motherboard

Thanks! A friend from work brought me an AGP card to test. It works, so my AGP port is not the culprit. It was my video card. Now I get to find a new AGP card instead of PCI. Thanks again for the help! Mark

Help Select PCI Video Card for older Motherboard

I think my AGP port may be dead on my Asus P4PE motherboard. Can someone help me select a PCI video card. What do I need to check to make sure the card I select is compatible? I'm worried since my motherboard is 4-5 years old now. I need a card with a DVI port. I don't do much gaming...

this place is great. thanks for all the replies. Well, uncle sam is sending me some money back, so I could part with $150ish ($200 if i absolutely had to) for a new card. I'm open for suggestions. I have 512 Mb ram, P4 2.4 Ghz. As far as games go, I'm still stuck with my age of empires...

thanks for the reply. It says it is both analog and dvi input. I read somewhere that it doesn't come with a DVI cable, so I'm guessing I wouldn't have any trouble. Thanks again. Mark

Hello. I'm looking at buying the Samsung 172X LCD monitor. I currently have an old NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 video card that I did not upgrade a year ago when i put together a new computer. Would the monitor work with that video card or would I have to buy a new one? I don't understand most of this type...

Creative SB Live - No sound

GOT IT!!!!!!! Turns out that I d/l from creative's web site weren't for digital output. Gateway's site had some drivers for the SB Live Value card for digital output, and that did the trick. So, now I have sound. I'm still curious why I cna't get the onboard sound to work, but I cna figure...

Creative SB Live - No sound

Ok. I reinstalled XP.....still nothing. I took my old hard drive w/windows 98, and put it in my new computer, and the sound worked fine. So, it appears to not be working with XP for some reason. Any suggestions? Again, I have the Creative SB Live Value that I got with my gateway computer...

Speakers aren't bad. They work with my old computer. They are Boston Acoustics BA735Digital Speakers w/Subwoofer. Mark
