That's how I figured out it was backwards. It was clearer at a glance on other intel builds I've done.

Really feel silly. Didn't even know a CPU could be installed backwards. Glad it didn't damage anything. Anyway it's a BIG upgrade over my old system. I can even play Red Dead Redemption now, with graphics settings on high and it runs smoothly. For an ancient GPU the AMD RX 560 4GB is not bad...

OMG I feel like the biggest idiot EVER! I had the CPU installed backwards! I'm posting from the new machine now! I didn't even have to install drivers, it just automatically had me download a Gigabyte utility that did it all for me. Easiest install ever. Same windows install as my old machine...

Aren't we all excited?!?

I mean with a Trump victory, now we get to go back to... At least 5 new scandals daily, and by the time Friday rolls around, Monday's scandals seem months old, because so many new scandals popped up by Friday! And this time with ZERO guardrails! Oh well this is how 'murica obviously remembers...

Official Project 2025 initialization thread

There's gonna be a LOT of US citizens who will be deported for "Mexican sounding names". They will basically be stripped of citizenship and deported, and have to prove in court at great expense the deportation was in error. That's just a minor problem compared to the pain this idiotic choice...

Damn you Amazon! I was all set to build my base machine today, because the CPU cooler was to arrive. So Amazon waits until this morning to send a note to the effect of "Sorry we sold you this, but we don't actually have any, so eventually you will get a refund". They could have done this right...

Ermergerd!?! Seems VITALLY important to some of you that I get an AMD system. It's not to me, but here's the last bit of my reasoning. If I go AMD, I want AM5 and DDR5. I don't want to even bother with DDR4 boards and AM4 socket chips, as that is AMD's 'dead upgrade path'. I'd want the full AM5...
