That's what would have shown up in the log. What I'm looking for is what is displayed in the command prompt window after typing in the "sobsvc -v" command.
Let's try this - fire up a command prompt, cd to "\program files\sb" (or wherever you installed the SB client) and run
sobsvc -v
This should print out the current version number and installation status.
If it says that it's NOT installed, then run
sobsvc -i
again and tell me what its...
Did you perhaps run "sobsvc -i" without Administrative privileges? That's the only reason I can think of why the service might fail to install. I've never heard any reports of this before...
Hi, folks - a new version of the service handler is out. Full discussion is here on the main project forum.
Please give it a try and let me know if there are any problems. In particular, I think this should fix that pesky intermittent caching failure when the clients restart.
Baldy18 - check the Pending Test Management page now. Louie just put in a new column to show what rate each test is running as far as the server is concerned. If that column doesn't add up to what shows in the stats, e-mail him. Another user is having a similar problem right now and he's...
SW - it's only clients below 0.97 that are rejected (because they don't submit residues). They've been banned for a long time...no server-side change happened with the 1.10 release. Lots of folks are still using 0.97 Linux clients.
With the new client release, Louie also put in a new page on the server side that can be used for tracking down problems like yours, Baldy18 - log in to the main site, go to Preferences, then go to the Pending Test Management page - there is a list of all the tests assigned to your user ID, with...
If you are currently using the service handler, you need to STOP the service BEFORE you install the client upgrade.
Here's the procedure (assumes that SB is installed in c:\program files\sb and that the upgrade installer is located there as well):
*NT/2K/XP*
Command Prompt -
net stop...
Huntress - that's a good suggestion. I'll rewrite for the next release.
Everyone - new Windows client has been released. Here is the thread on the main forum announcing it.
Edit: if you're currently using the service handler, be sure to STOP it BEFORE running the new client installer...
Baldy18 - until the next client version comes out, I would definitely suggest using the "/s" switch to restart stalled clients. It's not a bad idea even after that since there is no guarantee that the new one will *never* stall (things do happen...)
Huntress - It looks at the progress every 5 minutes and if it hasn't done anything in that particular 5 minute interval it restarts. Usually stalls happen right at the end of a block, so I would expect it to notice the stall somewhere between 16 and 21 minutes after the stalled block started...
