thanks ANZ... Would it make more sense to spend 400-500 and upgrade my entire system (MB, CPU, RAM, Video?). If I did my upgrade in a two step process would this card me transferable to the newer MBs? Like I said I am very much out of touch on the latest and greatest component formats...

Need Motherboard recommendation

thanks. Most of my computer use will be simple internet stuff with occassional gaming (battlefield 2 etc) Any thoughts on a good middle of the road video card? Mattlock

I am not familiar at all.... Does anyone have any specific CPU/mobo recommendations? I'd like to stick to a price point of around $500 (cpu/ram/mb and video card) thanks

Need Motherboard recommendation

I've been out of touch with hardware for the last year but I've gotten to the point of needing to upgrade my system... Here's my current setup: Asus A7V600 Motherboard, Via KT600 1024 MB DDR SD RAM, PC 3200 Athlon XP oc'd to 1.955 ATI Radeon 8500 All in Wonder I want to keep my case...

Upgrade recommendations for Athlon XP

thanks everyone for feedback. Just found out I had several bad capacitors on my m-b. Replaced it with Asus for $60. Will hold off on upgrading for a while. Mattlock

Upgrade Help (754 or 939) Athlon

The CPU has a little black mark next to the core. Is that a sign ? If so, hopefully my motherboard is still ok. That being the case... which is the best Athlon for speed and Overclocking for my 8rda+? XP 2800 Barton?? thanks Mattlock

Actually I think you are right but the practical problem is when I press the power button, the LED goes straight to FF (doesnt cycle through the codes) and nothing happens.....no beeps, doesnt get to bios setup, no video on monitor. A friend suggested I change the bios battery. Will do...
