I ordered one of these a few weeks ago when it was $89 w/FS as a one-day Shocker. Mine shipped from TN and was packed very well - two layers of heavy bubble wrap, secured with tape and packed in a fairly large box with a lot of crumpled kraft paper. I see complaints about how they pack OEM...
Nice deal on the case.
I got the silver and black version of this same case a few weeks back at Fry's for $10 more AR and I was happy with that price. This case has a lot going for it. Antec includes an efficient 380W Earthwatts PSU that appears to be conservatively rated, especially...
I believe you probably can skip the BSEL mod with this motherboard. I had originally done the mod for an ECS board where the FSB and PCI/AGP were linked. If you do the BSEL mod with this motherboard you get a brief error message at post but it works fine. I never tried an un-modded CPU on the...
Stickboy - I'm currently running an E4500 on this motherboard at 3.2GHz. To get there I did the BSEL mod to trick the default FSB to 266. Also did a volt mod to hit a vcore of 1.4625v. Then I increased the FSB in the BIOS to 290 which is just short of the max mine will do and remain stable...
Yeah, I was disappointed with the HSF that came with the E4500. All aluminum and the fan was junk. I ended up getting an AC7 for the E4300 and moved the copper core HSF to the E4500.
I'd be curious to know if the E4600 ships with the copper core???
Default vcore on three as reported in Everest:
- E4300
- Pack date 1/13/2007 - default 1.325v
- Shipped with a copper core HS
- Quiet Fujikura branded fan
- Overclocked to 3.3GHz at 1.4625v on a MSI P6N SLI Platinum
- E4500...
Not a hot deal except for those waiting on this to complete a build. $99.99 shipped. Pretty much the same as an E2180 except an 11x multiplier and maybe lower vcore.
Fry's BM has their E2180/MB combo today for $88.99. Confirmed this price in San Jose and Atlanta but might be elsewhere. Sell...
I've been to both the Atlanta MicroCenter locations in the past 24-hours. Both were sold out of the E4500. Both showed negative quantities on-hand. Both had a nonsense reason why their systems were out of whack. I'm wondering if the salsepeople jumped on this ?? Anyway, Black Friday is right...
I also just upgraded - from a X800XL AGP to a X1950GT 512MB PCI-E. Thanks to the recent posts here the install went better than it would have. I disabled the PCI-E Downstream Pipeline and had no issue with maintaining my 2.6 GHz overclock (E4300 @ 9 x 289). The system hung during the ATI driver...
My rig is similar to yours except I'm running with 2 x 1GB DDR2-667 sticks of Kingston ValueRam. Video is AGP with an ATI X800XL. I've managed to run rock solid at 2,619 MHz (9x291). To get there I set BIOS :
- FSB to 291
- Overclock mode to CPU,PCIE Async.
- Memory frequency to...
Thanks for the info ECartman !
I wonder if those reporting failure on the mod were just using the pen to draw the circuit. Regardless, your method works.
My local RS shows they have the pen in stock. I'll be picking one up tomorrow to keep in my tool kit.
Decent price on the Circuitwriter pen which has many uses.
I'll agree that the copper rear window defogger repair kit is the way to go for a E4300 pin mod. Seems like more people are having success with the copper. Could have something to do with how much you apply to make the connection...
