one year later - console wars

Let's not forget that Sega has, in fact been eviscerated and doesn't even produce hardware anymore. I think it would be foolish to invest money into a console made by a company that basically no longer exists in the hardware realm..... As for a choice? I hate all consoles, I think they are...

S.M.A.R.T. says hard drive is going to fail, how accurate is that prediction?

For some reason, almost 80% of the time I read postings about failing harddrives etc, the brand is always Western Digital. I think those drives are cursed, every time I touch one or work with one, they crap out on me. WD makes HORRIBLE stuff in my opinion. What do you guys think?

FIXED hdd problem - unplugged scanner

Yeah, it sounds like it's a HDD problem. Especially of the recy. bin is causing the machine to lock up. Any other wierd sytomps like constant clicking or slow-downs for no reason when you're trying to access certain files? he flashlight just shows that the machine is looking for the components...

Y-Splittlers on a 350W PSU?

Is there any way to figure out how much voltage/amperage you're currently using from your PSU? I've got two cathode lights in my machine and I want to put two more in but many have told me that the PSU wont be able to handle that many, it's a 350watt, with two CDroms, one harddrive and a zip...

best ide drives for raid 0

Maxtor....for sure. Western Digital are harddrives from the pits of hell, as far as I'm concerned, they've only done one thing for me: Crash.

How much longer til water cooling is standard?

I think we're all forgetting the main element in basic computing, that most manufacturers like Dell, Gateway, HP etc follow, they have to make their machines idiot proof. Now, I'm sure we all could count the number of computer users we personally know would completely screw up the water-cooling...

AMD to go Bye-Bye???

I agree with you completely, not only does Intel's severely overpriced product line cause many to look to AMD for cost effective computing, but on a personal level, I think that AMD gives much more bang for the buck. I've never liked Intel?s hardware and AMD time and time again has proven to be...

Clock not running when power is shut off.

Yeah, it sounds like your CMOS battery is bad. Do you get an error about incorrect CMOS or bios settings when you boot up as well?
