this is officially turning into the biggest pile i've had the stupidity to get myself involved in.
Started from scratch. Uninstalled driver via control panel, and removed the graphics card from the device manager and restarted into safe mode.
Ran driver sweeper and removed all Nvidia drivers...
Got home and reinstalled the latest driver and upon completing the install did the restart....and the system just stays at the "Shutting Down" screen endlessly spinning the circle....but not shutting down. Don't know what else to do here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks leyawin I found the 2.20 bios update. But the board shipped with that bios. I went ahead and ran the installer before work and the PC was able to shut down normally for the first time since we did the card swap. I'm hoping that after work I'll be able to get the driver to install. Maybe...
