Personally I would buy a WD black label instead. Their five year warranty is hard to beat, and their RMA is second to none. Even if it costs $10 more... it makes me rest easier.
WD has always been very quick with their RMA. I haven't had to return anything in a month or so... but suspect they have their act together regardless of the flooding. WD is a very, very well run organization.
I like the idea of reusing old hardware... but personally, I wouldn't compromise a motherboard purchase just to hang onto a few ide devices.

This is VERY cool. I also like anything with lasers. I have used one such system at an installation in the past, but it was very slow and a long time ago.
