No I didn't just assing the computer an arbitrary name...i think you need to know the name of the machine to get it to work...good luck

never mind that last post...i got it to work...thanks sohcrates...i didn't know that it wouldn't show up in network neighborhood, but when I did \\computer name it worked... one other thing...since i only know the ip address of the host computer, and all the other computers in the house get...

yeah i tried it too, and I couldn't get it to work...does it matter that in my room I already have a network set up? like does that screw up the network neighborhood stuff because I would belong to different workgroups? I didn't use the #PRE modifier so I will try that too...

My friends live in another house than me and have a DSL connection. I was wondering if it is possible for to me to use my dialup modem to connect to the internet, and then somehow be able to access their network neighborhood and share files with them? They are using win98 and so am I. Thanks...

Help: Start menu and other graphics turn different colors after suspend mode

I am having this weird problem where after my computer goes into suspend mode, and after say a few hours I go to use the computer again, the start menu graphic (where it says Windows 98) is all discolored and after I move around in "my computer", some of the folders will all be screwed...

Choosing compents for CUV4X

I just bought the Asus CUV4X motherboard with a 700E chip. I need to buy all the other components now. I was wondering if anyone has this board, and can reccommend the type of Ram, sound card, and video card I should get, that will give the least # of conflicts. I know people had problems...

Please help with motherboard selection!

Thanks everyone for the advice. It seems like I should probably go with the 815e chipset. The only thing is, is it seems like there isn't too many choices out there for motherboards besides the ASUS CUSL2 and the MSI one. I am sure there are others but they are the only two I really hear...
