Laptop for AutoCAD and the like...

The MSI GT series workstation editions are great, they even let you get round optimus issues that CAD programs can have by having the HDMI and display ports hooked directly into the GPU. You can even get barebone versions of them.

Added a little more power to my setup

Well ever since unlocking XTU on my notebook and adding in a 3740QM and clocking it to 3.9ghz (4 core turbo) I have noticed that I would get throttle when running games due to insufficient power :( There are no adaptors with the correct tip rated higher than 180W, so I did it my way...

Alienware Laptops - Worth The Cost?

If you are going with the 7970M then the alienware is the only one that lets you turn enduro off. That in itself is worth a chunk.

Lol, they are some of the highest performance machines around, the M18X R2 has been the market leader for months while sager try to release a dual card ivy bridge model. Their cooling systems tend to be a notch above sager's.

Alienware M17X

Mic placement is right next to the touchpad so you dont need the lean into the screen to speak lol. The touchpad is not that small, no smaller than the alienware IIRC, the speakers are not great but then again MSI are much better than alienware while the brick may be bigger the machine is much...
