I've heard that if you run the clock/memory asynchronous it will actually decrease performance. ATI set it up so they have run together or something like that.

Adding a blue orb and ramsinks "might" allow you to overclock a bit more, but it's probably not worth the investment unless you already have the stuff to do it. I've added blue orbs and ramsinks to both my Radeons (a 64 meg retail, and an LE). I can get the LE up t 190/190...

Anyway, I guess you spolied him hu? It would be hard to put a TNT2 Ultra in your system after you've already seen the speed and visual quality of a Radeon.
I see. Well that makes more sense then. I'd say let him borrow the Radeon. I had a 400mhz PII before I upgraded and I noticed a huge difference between my old Diamond TNT2 card and my Radeon 32 meg LE that I had installed for awhile.

Ok here's a definite answer for you. Of course he's going to see and fps increase from a Radeon as compared to a TNT2 Ultra. Your comparing old technology to the latest video card from ATI. They wouldn't put out a new product if it couldn't compete with a card thats already...

Yeah probably, but if I remember correctly it did the same thing when it was clocked to 183/183 (the default). As I said before it is barley noticeable, so I think it may be due to something else.
I have a Radeon 64 meg retail board o/c to 200/200. I see artifacts "occasionally" in direct3d games like Giants and THPS2. It's not a big deal really, they are only noticeable if you're looking for them.
I've had this problem with my 64 meg Radeon (ATI Video-In app not working). If you're running DirectX 8 under Win98/ME, upgrade to 8a. This fixed it for me.
That sounds bad man. I'm not sure if you damaged the core, but you might have. I've heard some bad stories about sanding the core. I've modded two radeons so far with blue orb's and arctic silver epoxy (and LE and a retail 64meg). I didn't sand the core because I was afraid of damaging it...

How did you attach the ramsinks and blue orb with super glue and thermal paste? Wouldn't the paste and super glue get all mixed together from trying that? Curious how you did this...
One other precaution I forgot to mention is that if you put AS epoxy on the ram sinks make sure not to get any on the connectors. I put the epoxy in the middle of the chip and then let it spread out once the sink was put on.
