I am aware of the 3.5 mm jack, but it has a remote to control songs and stuff. I was hoping to keep that. its not the end of the world if it can't. I guess the more straightforward question is do 30pin connectors use a standard "language" that usb phones will respond to?

It should be fine. Asus is generally very reliable. Yes, it will fit into any standard mid tower case. They usually come with a few cables, a sata and molex converter and sometimes others. This one happens to only come with two Sata cables however. Hopefully this helped you!
