I bought one of the Pacific Digital 8x8x32 drives a few months ago.
The box said 8x8x24 on the outside and I had bought it because Pacific Digital had been putting Yamaha 8x8x24 drives (4 MB buffer) in those boxes.
It was a Samsung SW-408B (2 MB buffer) inside the box I bought.
The drive works...
If you read the technical specifications on the SyncMax 32x4 DIMMs at this location
http://www.syncmax.com/PDF/TN011801_256_32Mx4_compatible.pdf
you will see that it does not work in motherboards with Intel chipsets.
ASUS has a 3-year warranty like Intel.
ASUS does try to get consumers to return motherboards to the reseller first though.
The 3-year warranty is one of the reasons I bought an ASUS motherboard to replace my ABIT motherboard.
ABIT only has a one-year warranty.
PCtel chipset modems are Host Signal Processing (HSP) and not very good.
I sold or gave away all of them I had long ago.
You can download reference drivers for those modems at

I arrived at the local Fort Worth CompUSA store about five minutes after they opened on Sunday and all the PC133 DIMMs were already gone.
I managed to purchase two of the PC100 CAS2 DIMMs though, which will work for my immediate needs.
I noticed that the chips on the two DIMMs I purchased were...
I have an I/O Magic (nVidia) TNT2-M64 32-megabyte AGP video card I am using in my home computer that has an ASUS CUSL2 motherboard with 700 MHz Pentium III processor and a Compaq MV920 19-inch monitor that supports up to 1600x1200 resolution at 75 MHz.
I am running Windows 2000 Professional.

I had a similar experience with my ABIT BX6-Revision 2.0 motherboard in the summer of 2000.
I finally gave up and bought an ASUS CUSL2 to replace the ABIT BX6-Revsion 2.0 motherboard.
A few months later I tried out the ABIT BX6-Revision 2.0 motherboard again and it worked.
The ABIT BX6-Revision...
I received my package today, and it is as 'HiroWorship' described (an OEM-type software pack).
There are no UPC codes on anything so no one is going to get any mail-in rebates off this deal but the price is right anyway.
The state tax software rebate does not concern me since I live in Texas...
The Archtek 5634PEW modem uses the ESS 2898S chipset, which is a controllerless chipset.
The details can be found at http://www.esstech.com
and specifically at http://www.esstech.com/product/Communications/modem%20products.pdf
This is a very, very good controllerless modem, but it is not a full...
I ordered this deal on January 12.
They sent me a U.P.S. tracking number, and somthing is on schedule to arrive at my house on January 18 based on the U.P.S. tracking number.
Hopefully the item in shipment is exactly as advertised.
I did not buy all the local Fort Worth (Hulen) store's stock, just seven at $4.88 plus tax each since I can think of that many relatives' or friends' computers that could use one.
There were three or four more of the Archtek modems left on the store's shelves, but the CompUSA salesman who asked...
If you cannot find the WinModem deal try this one for a $4.88 SmartLink modem at CompUSA:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=313086
I did not realize the SmartLink 5634PEW modems were on sale on CompUSA again until I just saw this thread.
I already have two SmartLink 5634PEW modems I bought in 1999 with mail-in rebates, but this deal even better because I do not have to wait a few months for the rebate checks.
I sold a...
