CSV files with alternate record separators?

GRUB has taken over my PC!

Ok, nevermind. I booted from the WinXP CD and use the FIXMBR command in the Repair Console. It boots just fine now. :-)

I've been living perfectly well with my PC dual booting WindowsXP Pro and Red Hat Linux. The Red Hat boot loader would come up with every boot asking whether I wanted DOS (in this case WinXP) or Linux. I haven't been using Linux at all, so I decided to format the 15GB hard drive that it was on...

How can I record from a mic and a CD or MP3 at the same time?

How can I record from a mic and a CD or MP3 at the same time? Is it just a software thing, or might my onboard sound solution just not be capable of doing that? If it's hardware, what feature should I look for in a sound card that would tell me it does that? Thanks! -Midi

After some messing around with settings (and a restart that caused the video software to do some setup on restarting Windows), I think I have it figured out, although the letters in windows are not really readable much or at all. Is there any way to improve that, or would I need a better kind...

Do I need a DVD hardware decoder?

Cool! That's what I was hoping! :D I have an AthlonXP 1600+. I remember hearing a lot about hardware decoders a while back, but since I hadn't in a while, I was hoping that more current systems didn't need them. Thanks! -Midi

I just ordered a DVD-ROM for my PC. I can't believe I waited so long! :D Anyway, I remember reading a lot a long time ago that for the best DVD video playback quality, you would need a hardware decoder. Is that still true? And if so, what should I get? I don't know if my video card has that...

Fast MP3 ripping?

Is there any software (or software setting) that would allow me to rip CD quality tracks from my CDs into MP3 format QUICKLY? Right now, it's going very slowly for me. Windows Media Player rips into the WMA format MUCH more quickly, also at high quality. Can anyone help? Thanks! -Midi

Why doesn't MusicMatch recognize both of my CD drives?

I think I did that, but the CD-ROM drive wasn't in the list. Stupid me, though, I know very well that the first rule in PC troubleshooting is "restart", but I don't think I did that. It works today. :-) Thanks anyway! -Midi

Why doesn't MusicMatch recognize both of my CD drives?

I just downloaded MusicMatch to try it out, but it will only let me play and rip CD's from the CD-RW drive - it doesn't seem to see my faster CD-ROM. Can anyone tell me how to fix it? Thanks! -Midi
