The D600 is built better than the 600m. It supposedly has more magnesium alloy in it than the 600m which has more plastic. Take a look at the pictures below showing that the D600 has a reinforced screen housing versus the non-reinforced 600m. The screen flex that causes pixel-distortion in...
I was interested in IBM's T40 myself. I followed the link from my university's computer discount page. Not only is the set-up of the IBM educational discount page terrible, they require that you purchase a MS Office suite with purchase! Don't they realize a lot of the larger universities on...
I hate to go off topic -- but since the original question's been answered I thought I'd go ahead. Where are you guys headed to school this fall? What are you studying? I'm going to Purdue--going to be a Computer Technology (Telecom and Networking track) major and am going to minor (actually...
Thanks for the heads up. I don't plan on abusing it at all, I'll be getting a backpack with a padded liner compartment. Also I've heard avoiding moving it with the screen by only moving it with the base should alleviate these problems. A T40 would be nice, but not on a student's budget...
Dothan is real. Anandtech discussed it in the closing of their initial Centrino/Pentium-M review. See here. Keep in mind you can't play the waiting game forever. I have been holding out for the Radeon 9600M for a while now on my notebook for college. I'm starting to regret I didn't take...

Great review! It's this kind of indepth analysis that really helps someone trying to decide on a notebook. I hope to do the same kind of review when I get my i600m.

That's complete crap. I sell computers at Best Buy and most don't compare to Dells thank you very much. That's why I'll be getting an i600m for my college notebook and not some 1.7" thick Toshiba or Sony pretending to be a Centrino thin and light. Now if we carried the S705 I might have to...
I'm in the same boat here. I need a notebook for college but would like to be able to play some games, too! I keep hoping for a Radeon 9600 Mobility to get into the 600m or D600!

Just in case you didn't know, you can get an SXGA+ screen (1400x1050) on the Dell i600m. I wasn't sure if you already knew this but just didn't want that high of a resolution on the 14 "screen or you didn't know.
