ATi Rage Fury Maxx. :^)

I had Win2000 running on a Rage Fury for 6-9 months last year - did fine. Maybe it didn't work when Win2000 first came out, lots of hardware wouldn't.

Do old files need "refreshing"?

Hi All, You know how files on an old floppy are often corrupted? Can the same happen on a HD? I've heard that the magnetic 'signal' [whatever stores the data on the platters] can deteriorate over time, which sounds feasible. If true, this would endanger files which don't move, eg archives...

Computer Randomly Freezing

I screwed up,I deleted something by accident..Need help with this one.

What MB size shows up now for the Recycle Bin? Iff 300+MB, your files are probably still there. I haven't used XP, so could be talking rubbish from now on :) The old way Windows deleted files was to replace the first character of the file name with ~ [tilde]. If you can remember a file name...

Hi Wolf, I can't help you, but have had a similar problem for 3 years with a Maxtor 13gig. Mine is more an irregular 'clacking' - loud, maybe 3-4 clacks in 2 seconds, couple of seconds silence, 8-10 clacks for 5 seconds - random like that. It only happens on soft boots, never on a hard boot...

Not so hot for generic. I got Mushkin for same price about a week ago. Thanks for trying though :)
