Haswell Refresh Xeon E3 compatibility with C22x chipset motherboards

That's what I thought. I plan to upgrade a Dell Precision T1700 that came with an i3 4130 to a Xeon 1246v3, but I wanted to make sure before ordering the CPU. I guess I'll just have to find out by trying it. Thanks.

Where are the 5 TB Western Digital 3.5" HDDs?

I think they are 5x 1TB platters, as they're successfully using 5p/10h in some of the 7200rpm Re models. I think the next 6TB version will be 5x 1.25TB.

How much RAM do I REALLY need for a 72TB ZFS configuration?

By my calculations you'll have about 43.5TB of usable space, so 96GB just for storage purposes would be overkill. If I were you I'd split this amount of storage into two systems on E3 v3 with 32GB ECC each.

Win8 Storage Spaces/Pool: hard drive failure, recover data?

@vexingv Your data isn't lost. What led you to conclude that the drive you pulled is damaged? Have you tried to connect/read that drive in another system? If the drive isn't the problem, try a new cable in the original system (after you make sure the drive gets detected in another system)...
