If you think the average user will ever touch Matlab, SimUText, or STATA, you are way out of touch will the current market. I would guess less then 20% will ever even know those programs existed.
Lets not forget the average person has never even gone to college let alone been in a technical...
I think I too quickly dismissed the sg05/06 before for its SFF PSU. Upon taking a second look its very close to what I'm looking for. I can probably live with the SFF PSU if there are no other alternatives
My expectations are managed. I currently have an X Q-pack that is 13.8" deep and...
I've never been one for large PCs and jumped on the SFF bandwagon 9 years ago when I purchased an X q-pack (actually mine is old enough that its direct from chenming)
I also didn't want to compromise on my system and while its not the highest quality case the q-pack let me shove everything I...
$1 operating income on the gpu division? Either they got cold and burned a large pile of cash in the middle of the office or we can take a good guess as to which side is flitting the bill for fusion R&D. Silly silly accountants. ;)
probably a transistor is its got 3 mounting points. I would not try to operate the card without it. A transistor should be fairly easy to solder back on. If you don't have the skills to do it find an electronic repair shop and have them do it. They shouldn't charge more then $20
at your price range a 5750 (or 5770 if you can find one on sale) is your best bet in terms of gaming. Its on average %10 faster then a gts250 and in some cases even more then that and its dx11 hardware. On the other hand linux support is still better on the green side though that is slowly...
b1 if it comes at all wont be till july or later. About 6 months for a complete respin so if nvidia committed to one in January (about the earliest they could have) thats the best they could do.
they couldn't use faster gddr5 becuase of their poorly designed bus, has nothing to do with how wide it is.
@1) true
@2) Everything I've seen so far show that in dx11 titles amd normally closes the gap/wins against the 470/480. Dx11 is not the green teams strong point (yet... will give them...
but amd isn't bleeding money. With a much smaller die size they will likely make about the same or more per chip then nvidia. Especially if amd's yield is significantly better then nvidia's as is rumored.
I wouldn't bother with a 5570. A gt240 would be ok, but not really worth the ridiculous price they want for it. (really nvidia its a $50 card tops)
Instead I would step up to a 5670 or a low power 9800gt. (make sure its a low power 9800 or you'll have trouble) Either card will be orders of...
the gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H rev 1.1 board fits your needs. Its also priced right at only $80.
The important thing though is you need the rev 1.1 board to ensure out of the box c3 support. The rev 1.0 and 1.1 boards are very easy to tell apart though. Rev 1.0 has red/yellow memory slots...
