Surge destroying the cables is highly unlikely. A router doesn't have enough power on the ports to destroy the cables without destroying itself.
Rodents are likely at fault since it is two different cables damaged.
Has anyone been hanging pictures or other things on the walls lately ?
The echo basically is a 'dumb' device that requires Amazon to provide the connection to in home devices. I use it to control my Dish network television system.
If I say "Alexa tune to CNN", the request goes from Alexa to Amazon where they use the program stored in the Amazon Cloud , Amazon...

You need to smooth the PWM output with a low pass filter before you use it to control a 3 pin fan. Then all you need is a transistor that can handle the fan load. You will need to try different values of the capacitor and resistor to get the speed you want on the output, the voltage on the base...
Pressure activated sensor , tubing could be put on top of the road, like the bell that rings at gas stations. Tubing as small as 3/8" could be used to connect to pressure switches. The tubing might wear out over time but changing it out would be as simple as cutting another length of tubing and...
The problem isn't the speed of the processing, it is aggregating all the data so that the processor can begin working with the data. DSP are used after the FPGA . The FPGA doesn't make any determination on what the input data contains , people, places, things, that is for the DSP.
Vision sensors are the reason I haven't posted much in a while. I can tell you some of what I have learned in the past couple months. Machine vision is a really interesting field and open to a lot of methods to solve the problems, funding is also very very good in this area, hint: DARPA.
If you...
Some of the inductive chargers use a pulsed method, they do not generate a constant current in the device, but generate large pulses 5-10x what the powered device voltage may need. The reason for this is the loss in the power transfer increases with distance, one way to increase the received...
Take apart some of the solar powered lights that people use around sidewalks. They use a NiCd cell and a 4 lead part, same size as a to-92 transistor that controls the charging and the on time. Basically if it detects current flowing on the solar cell it goes into charge mode, remove the light...
Following links off the bja site you find more and more stuff the clearly people don't know is going on.
A call to action ?
