I just ran 3dmark06 to check what the temps would go up to, it didn't go over 40. I'm not sure how much stress that puts on it, but I think it would be a fair amount.
I have the big typhoon on mine and it is fairly quiet and is nice and cool... Depending on room temps, it is normally idle around 34 to 36. I don't remember exactly what it is under a load, but I don't remember seeing it high than 45... Also, I have my e6400 running at 3.2ghz.
Also, here is my batch number L624A768
So, I have had some good luck... right when I got mine in, I did a google search for that batch number and looked at other peoples settings that got that batch. I suggest you do the same to see what people have set theirs at with the same batch number.
Pretty much turn everything off in bios that you won't use... Also make sure to set your PCI-E to 100mhz... It may have something to do with the CPU batch you have too. Mine runs at 1.35v instead of 1.325v at the 3.2Ghz with the 400mhz setting for FSB.
Somebody else on these forums had posted...
Actually all I needed was the +.1v at the vdimm overvoltage, I set the others back to normal. The timings should work at 12-5-5-5, thats what the Corsair site has it at. That is what I set it to now.
Sweet... The +.1v to the overvolt made it boot at 1.9v instead of 2.1v. Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'll have to manually set the timings too for it to be right, it looks like the TRAS is 18 instead of 15 when in auto.
Well, some reason it defaults to 2.1v when I overclock, I don't know why. I will try the +.1v in the bios and see what happens. I do have the PCI-E set to 100Mhz. I'll also give a try to the ICH and MCH to +.1v and set the timings too...
From a cold boot this morning it booted right into...
If left in auto and everything is set to stock, it comes in correct at 1.9v without having to adjust anything. It's once I start to overclock and changing dividers that it bumps it to 2.1v for some reason. I would like it to stay locked at 1.9v without having to use easytune because on reboot...
I'm telling you, it really isn't there... I've looked through so many times searching. Also, other people have been looking for it to because it is odd that you can't control that from the bios...
I just did a reboot and the board had to reset itself, even after running prime 95 stable for over 4 hours. I think the problem is that at boot, something with the voltage for the memory is off and just makes it fail. Hopefully the next bios update will make this work a bit better.
Well I ended up getting one of those cases that has a huge 250mm side fan that moves a good amount of air. I have also a 120mm intake fan in front and a 120mm exause fan in back. Also I have the Big Typhoon with the 120mm on the CPU so I didn't attach a fan to the chip on the motherboard, there...
Just got home, Prime 95 is still running and no errors after about 3 hours... Just upped the CPU voltage to 1.35v instead of the stock 1.325... Still odd about having to change the ram voltage in the easy tune software though.
