I need a new AthlonXP

I've been very happy for over a year with my AXP-M 2600+. I haven't tinkered with overclocking in so long that I don't remember my exact voltages etc., but right now it's running at 2.2ghz, and I believe it's under 1.5 volts. I ran it at 2.4ghz for 6 months at 1.6 volts or so, but I eventually...

also, many motherboard manufacturers actually perform at a slightly higher clock rate than what is listed in the bios. my ep-8rda3+ comes from the factory ~0.9mhz FSB faster than what the bios shows. at the 11x cpu multiplier i run, that comes out to about 10mhz, and coupled with it slightly...

Athlon XP-M 2600+ @ 2.75GHz

Gotta love those cpus. I got my 2600+ mobile a few weeks ago, spent a few hours drawing up a graph of speeds vs voltages, but the best I could get it to run prime95 was 2688@1.9v. Didn't make a difference up to 2 volts, and I didn't push it further than that for lack of cooling. Not sure what...

overclocking the agp slot

I've searched some and couldn't find a clear answer to this... My motherboard (Epox 8RDA3+) lets me set the AGP slot frequency 1 mhz at a time, exactly what effect does this have on the video card performance? Especially in combination with overclocking the card itself. If it does help out...

Older AMD CPU related question

The specs on Abit's site say that it takes PC100 or 133 memory, so it should handle a 266 Athlon just fine. A lot of older boards will have a jumper somewhere near the cpu or northbridge that lets you change clock frequencies. Might want to wait for someone who actually has one to speak up...

Alright, I thought it might be a hard limit on my motherboard. I updated the bios yesterday, no change, but it's all good, I didn't plan to run at 133 fsb anyway, and the 12.5x is sufficient for me to get a good overclock. That 2.9ghz at 232x12.5 just happens to be all my motherboard will do...

XP-M 2600+ and 8RDA3+, locked multiplier?

Forgive me if I'm reiterating an old topic that I may have missed when searching... I bought a mobile 2600+ from newegg the other day, which I love, got it up to 2.9ghz (232*12.5) @ 2.0 volts on air, but running nice and cool at 2.5ghz @ 1.7 volts, 41 degrees idle with a fan like a hair dryer...

got the problem with sound fixed, had to turn off hardware acceleration, there's not any. so far running sweet, can't wait to get my geil pc3500 in so i can push the limits on this board.

Impressive Kingston memory

Just pulled it out and looked, I can't find a brand of chip on it, just says "32Mx8 DDR-7-T" on each chip. They're 256 meg sticks, single sided. I'm pretty sure this stuff is new (bought it unopened on eBay), maybe it's so late in the game for PC2100, and PC2700 is so close to the same price...

Impressive Kingston memory

Finally settled on an OC I'm happy to run constantly at, 2.013 ghz (11.5x175). Again I must say that I love this memory for what it is, tested perfectly under Memtest86 at 2.0-2-2-6 timings now at 177 mhz, at 2.9 volts (still not really even warm). Thanks for the advice, McArra, I'm now...

Athlon 2500XP+ Barton or Athlon 2600XP+ 333FSB

it's why the 2500+ is one of the best deals in cpus right now, you take one and clock it at 400 FSB without any multiplier changes, and *voila* you've got a 3200+. can't guarantee, of course, but I've heard that most will do it on stock voltage. of course, you're still having to use pc3200 to...

Looking for an AMD mobo

Epox 8RDA3+ has all the features you listed. nForce2 I'm using PC2100, I hear of some rich people using PC4000, don't know if there is a limit 3 slots, put in 2 sticks for dual channel DDR (there's not much difference between SC and DC if you use an athlon) FSB is clockable from 100-250...
