I have a 3G prescott that I've pumped up to 3.9G without any changes to any voltages. I'm currently calculating the factorial of a huge number to keep the CPU spinning and the temp is up to 59.5C and mobo is at 41C. Is this an issue? How high can it go before I should start to worry? I may...

Oh Pauli did you get it easy. I remember paying over $100 for 4K of memory. My current 512MB would have cost me over $13 million back in the early 80's

**POLL** buy a dell or make your own computer, that is the question! :)

I'd guess it would be more than an extra $50 to do a home built as Dell get large volume discounts, and they only ship 1 or 2 boxes. Home built you miss the discount, and you'll get many more boxes. Also the software that comes on a Dell would cost much more if you bought if off the shelf...

Also, for the SCSI folks, round cables. I've seen good and bad comments, but most say that the most important issue is getting high quality cables. Are those from NewEgg good, or should I look elsewhere? Thanks

Why the push towards serial?

I don't think this will save much energy. The faster the bus, the more energy it will use. Even though you cut down the number of signals, you'll still use the same enery in the hight bus speed. However, that said, the lower the voltage, the less energy used, and the lower the heat...
