thanks for the suggestions everyone. the computer though somehow works now with the keyboard the owner was using. it wouldn't work with any of my keyboards though, and the fact that there are no ps/2 ports had me searching for other usb keyboards. i had initially thought there was a problem...

i've checked for drivers but i can't do anything on that computer. it will load windows but i can't use a keyboard or mouse. i was wondering if there was some other way to get the drivers onto that machine. thanks for the suggestions.

yes, i believe it has sp3. just seems like the keyboard error wiped the usb drivers.

USB Driver Install Help

I'm trying to fix a Dell XPS 410 desktop. It had a "keyboard failure" error and it seems to have messed up the USB drivers. When Windows XP loads it prompts for the drvers, but the keyboard or mouse will not work. There are no PS/2 or serial connectors on this computer, only USB. I've tried...

Need help w/ boot problem

thanks guys, i'm guessing it's toast. however, like i had mentioned, after i tried chkdsk and fixboot C: is only recognized as 10mb w/ the ntldr files only on it (using a boot CD). Is there any way to access what was lost on the rest of the drive?

thanks, i'll give it a try Well I ran the WD diag tests and here's what came out. 1. I got an error code 0007 2. It failed the "Raw Read Error Rate" as below threshold (thresh= 51, value=1) Does this mean the drive failed?

Need help w/ boot problem

I have a relative's computer that had the "unmountable_boot_volume" error. It would BSOD after the Win XP boot screen. It would not even start in safe mode. I tried to access C: via a boot CD to back some files up but I could not even access the drive as it said that the drive was not even...

Ninja or Tuniq Tower?

If noise is a concern, the Ninja will work better with a lower CFM/quieter fan. Otherwise, the Tuniq should be cooler overall.

Any suggestions on my build?

Looks pretty good overall. Maybe take a look at the Tuniq Tower heatsink as an alternative. Although, the Thermalright is a good one.

Are Foxconn mb's reliable?

I think you'll be fine with Foxconn. They make the Intel BX2, which gets good stability and performance reviews. I have the Intel board and it's been fine. You should also be fine with the onboard sound, unless you're really demanding.

skt 939 mobo

Well it really depends on what you need and what you want to spend. If you're spending all that money on the R600 card, I don't know why you'd base the system on a dead s939 platform. Basically, you need to give more info. Also, are you on socket 939 now?

Any good overclocking guides for the P5B-E?

There's a guide someone did here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/for...=e3ee3d30841cf86a50e8eb4cc7ff0e2e&f=59 I can't find it now, try searching there. I know it was either w/ the P5B-E or Dlx. They showed BIOS screenshots.
