Fair enough, the problem sometimes doesn't occur for a week. The thought of installing windows and using it for a few weeks on a mechanical drive scares me :)

It's a brand new Samsung 850 pro that I bought for this build. Who knows, you could be right. Come to think of it, most people in the Tom's thread have a Samsung ssd as their system disk. Unfortunately I don't have a spare ssd to use for testing, I'll see if I can get my hands on one.
