I've been reading up on using these drives in a TiVo on the AVS Forum. Word is that they work well, no heat problems. Will find out soon, I guess.

I just picked this up on Sun. at the Manhattan Beach Fry's. They had about 10 of these when I went, but most people were oblivous. Retail box 80gig Barracuda IV for $120 + tax - $50 rebate. $79.90 (or so) after taxes and rebate. Not bad for a fast, quiet drive. Gonna pop it into my TiVo.

VPR Matrix Laptop for cheap if available in your area

I bought a 200A5 in December and returned it 11 days later 'cause the LCD screen died. Great laptop, great screen, crappy keyboard, great battery life, loud as hell, and fairly lightweight considering the screen size. Sharp asthetics, but too big/bulky for my tastes. Also, the touchbad...

23.1" LCD (possible KDS RAD-23 rebadge) for 1988.36 @ Sam's Club Online (Possibly Cheaper @ Dell Home)

The 23" Apple Cinema display is only 250nits brightness and 300:1 contrast ratio. Pretty good numbers, but I'd rather go for something like the Samsung 240T if I was getting a display that large.

WARM - Gamecube wireless controllers - $26.99 each

I've used both the Wavebird and the G3 Wireless controllers. They're both good. The Wavebird is slight better in terms of comfort--it fits in my hand better and is less bulky. The wireless feature on both of these units work great. The G3 supports the rumble feature and the motors don't feel...

Logitech Wingman Cordless Rumble Pad under $16!

These things are made for HUGE hands. Maybe the deezigners that worked on these worked on those big Xbox controllers too.

Anybody have any info one the Front Lighting System? is it a backlight like the Afterburner kits or is it like one of those cheesy lights they install between the screen cover and the LCD screen (like on a watch)?

I couldn't find the $10 GC in Spin mag. It's the Jan. 01 issue, right? Couldn't find Family Fun mag. at all. The 10% coupon in SI is on page 18/19.

Just checked my order status. I placed my order on the 23rd and it was slated to arrive on 01/14/03, but now it comes up as being cancelled? what the heck? I also ordered that USB floppy, but looks like I won't be able to get the rebate on that since the rebate requires the laptop to work...

Slotless DVD

Anybody know of any slotless DVD ROM or DVD recordable drives? I've had a slotless CDROM drive for years and it's so much more convenient than a regular one. Haven't been able to find a DVD drive aside from products for Macs and laptops.

Sony SR33 Notebook CPU Upgrade?

Does anybody know if the Celeron 600 in my SR33 can be upgraded? I've read the micro-PGA2 Celerons can be upgraded to micro-PGA2 Pentium IIIs, but have no idea if that is what I have in this notebook. If it is, is it a simple matter of pulling out the old CPU and plugging the new one in?
