What is the performance hit of Win2k over Win98se?

Is there a performance hit?? I ahve both,and Win2k is faster in apps, faster on the network(internet), and faster to load. especially when you count all the times that Win98 fails to load or crashes. G

Win2k and USB?

I thought that Win2k was supposed to offer USB support, but I cannot get it to find any USB device so I can use them... but they do show in the hardware manager. It tells me it cannot load the required drivers, but I have downloaded the latest drivers from the manuf website... and ideas...

Win2k/IE skins??

I like the look/feel of Win2k, but I would like to have a more user-friendly interface for the young uns that use the puter such as that on MSN Explorer... it there a stable skin interface?? I use IE because there are utilities to block pop-up add that for some reason dont work wiht the MSN...

how does a duron 700 compare to a p3 450 katmai?

I made the switch from my pIII 450 to the Duron 700, and noticed a large preformace deficit even with 256MB of additional Ram. Video was less than appealing and rather broken. I attribute this to the 192KB of on chip cache of the Duron as opposed to the 512kb off chip cache of the PIII. I was...

Is the Via KT266 better than the 133??

My Via KT133 has problems with the USB support, I am wondering if this has been corrected in the later chips by Via, or if there are better solutions that offer better driver support with fewer conflicts than VIA. Thanks

Via KT133 USB Problems

Yeah I have tried installing the filter drivers... at this point I am ready to switch back to an Intel CPU as there doenst seem to be much else out there for the Athlon other than Via.

GF3??

I am looking for a new video card and I am considering the GF3. I dont game a lot, but am not too familiar with what will perform well in an office/mod gaming pc. I currently have a Viper V77o Ultra, and would like a card that will run Mpegs and Realmedia smoothly without slowing the system...

Via KT133 USB Problems

Has anyone experienced problems with recognition of USB scanners or other devices with the Via KT133 Chipset? If so is there a way to resolve this. I have tried WinME and Win2k, I have also installed several diff USB drivers to workaround this, but nothing works.

Best Keyboard--Natural or Wireless?

Natural it the way to go... if you can afford the wireless they are great, but I use natural at work, and can hardly type when I get home, not to mention that my hands go numb... I am on my way to replace it soon...

Do **ANY** spray-on wheel cleaners work?

Use a wheel sealer, and apply after each wash, brake dust will just rinse right off... very simple, the trick is to get it all off to start....

I am still a fan of the VW VR6.... sporty, fast, and my insurance doesnt know it... I am only 21.... 20 when I bought it....

Win2k with Raid?? Highpoint or Promise???

The board I have now is the HighPoint 366. But I am planning to upgrade to the Abit with the 370. I just want to get more info, cause if the 370 works as little as the 366 then I will just get a MSI board with the promise controller.

My 1st AMD PC... Wow!!!

Just curious what was your first system?? I am looking at a Duron or t-bird to replace my P3 450... but still thinkin that I like intel.... except for the cost....
