Going to get a Phenom II .... its either the X4 955 BE or the cheaper option of a X2 550.

Its to assemble a new computer ( the only thing I have is a Lian Li case & PS ) and the first thing to start with is the motherboard. I will be going the AMD route and am leaning away from any boards that have the via chipset. I will be getting a good new video card ( but thats another forum )...
Is this correct ? The fan on the Heatsink ( Tiger CPU Cooler ) blows air onto the heatsink against
sucking the air away from the heatsink. At the moment with the sides of the case the temps are 35C MB/59C CPU according to Asus Probe but are 10C lower in the Bios. Computer appears to be running...
Is the T/Bird basically a 100mhz FSB chip against a 133 FSB chip ? I have a Av7133 with a 1200 t/bird
and have 256 meg 133 ram. Is it better to select the 12x multiplier using the 100mhz ( default ) FSB or is it better to use the 9x multiplier usinf the 133 FSB ?

Yes the Bios shows the temp at only 48C........surely Asus can
get the probe to read the same temp as the Bios ? A poor bit
of design etc from Asus if this is the case .
As for the thermal paste, well the CPU Cooler came with some sort of paste already on it, you know the type where you peel...

Have just purchases the AV7 133 mobo along with a T/B 1.2 CPU and its appears a bit hot. Asus probe shows the temp at 69C/138F. Originally had an Orb heatsink cooler but when trying to attach it one of the plastic points snapped off the CPU holding unit ( or whatever its called ) so returned for...
Thanks to all who replied.......went to computer fair today and now
have the AV7 133
Oh well..........now to clean an area and start assembling everything
You cant flash the Bios if "something" is selected in your old Bios setup.
I can't remember exactly what it is but if yiu read the manual this will
tell you what setting has to be changed before the Bios can be flashed.
But then again your problem may be something totally different
Ok............looks like I will be going with this mobo but I see it only takes up to 1 gig t/bird. I would assume that with a bios flash it would take the 1.2 gig T/bird chip ?
