My current system is as follows:
Abit IC7-G
P4 Northwood 2.4 OC'd to 3.0 ( stable)
PC-2700 1 Gig
I would like to pick up some processing horsepower for converting DV camcorder video and burning them to DVD.
Question: Can I realize any significant increase in performance by upgrading to...
I have the Samsung 712N which I believe is the retail store equivalent to the 710N offered by NewEgg ( at least as best I could determine from the specs).
It ois a great LCD- the VGA only connection is no problem for me. Last nite I played UT2004 and if was so much better than my old CRT-...
I may have found a solution- I plugged my monitor /PC / and TV cable thru a common surge protector.
Read on another forum this suggestion that scrolling lines are often associated with interference with other appliance on different wiring circuits. The solution is toi make sur4e everything...
Mine was DOA- RMA'd back to Newegg for an ATI card.
I know- stuff happens with electronics. Nonetheless, I was not too happy. At least Newegg let me return for another brand product ( despite being a return for same product only deal).
Installed my ATI 9800 Pro AIW card this week. Everything seems to be finally running OK except one thing.
When the AIW is connected to my TV Cable I get some interference which result in the following:
1) Vertical scrolling band ( nearly trans[parent and very slow- but there)
2) My...
I solved the refresh rate problem - it's the TV cable into the ATI AIW card !!
The TV cable does 2 things :
1) You can't go beyond 60 Hz without flickering
2) and related, there is a slow scrolling vertical band
Simple solution- I disconnected the TV cable ( bummer) and am running 75...
Hoping that by running at the rated 75Hz refresh rate that the scrolling vertical lines/bands would be reduced.
I do not get these lines/bands on the other PC which runs great at 75 Hz.
Is the video card bad / defective ? Everything seems to work on it.
RESOLVED:
Isolated the...
I have 2 PCs at home - the Samsung runs at 1280X1024 at its rated 75 Hz on my wife's PC which runs an old Gainward GForce video card. The LCD is flicker free - no issues.
On my PC running an ATI 9800 AIW Pro all I can run is 60 Hz. If I run 70 or 75 Hz my screen display flickers/pulsates...
I Recently got an ATI 9800 AIW PRO graphicks card and I cannot seem run it over 60 refresh rate. If I set to 70 or 75 the screen sorta flickers ( pulsates?)
I tried several monitors - so something is weird.
Can anyone please help me set this card - or tell me I have a defective card.
electrical problems solved !
Electrician came to house and determined the wiring was indeed screwed up in the area of my house where my PC's run. Amazingly, for at least the past 15 years the wiring was screwed up majorly. The neutral and ground wires were crossed resulteting in a hot...
It's the house ground wire on the rooms circuit- me thinks.
When hooked up to another room - there's no problem with crazy voltage readings.
I have scheduled an electrician for the am.
The plug tester tester only tests the ground relative to the outlet (it ensures that, roughly, outlet 'hot' - outlet 'ground' = 120VAC). It sounds like your issue is that your outlet ground itself is hot, which needs to be fixed, preferably by a competent electrician.
Thanks - I have an...
