Hardware RAID vs Software Disk Management...

As far as I know, you can only set up whole drives in RAID, not partitions. If you set up a 200GB and an 80GB drive in RAID 1, you would end up with 1 usable 80GB drive.

Overclocking Brick Wall - Suggestions

Here's what I know off the top of my head: CPU 2500Mhz HTT 4x (1000Mhz) RAM 166 (208Mhz) loose timings at 1t Default voltages across the board

Get the highest Mhz AMD - or - highest Mhz Intel you can afford.

Setting up a SATA drive for the first time.

What motherboard? On my NForce3 and NForce4 motherboards I noticed that if I used the NForce SATA controller ports, I didn't need anything. However, if I used the 'add on' Silicon Integrated controller ports, I needed the drivers on a floppy at the beginning of Windows Setup.

Static shock damage?

I just replaced a motherboard for a friend who zapped the power switch with a sizeable shock. The motherboard was just plain dead, but all the other components survived. :)

Dead Motherboard

I just swapped out an EPOX mb for the exact same model and Windows wasn't any the wiser. I would just make sure you have the drives attached to the exact same ports as before. If the BIOS revisions are different, that might throw something into the works but I doubt it.

Hmmm.. Did some checking, and it looks like the couple ISPs are only offering 15 Mb/s up and down at the moment. The system can do 100 Mb/s up and down or 1000 Mb/s up and down for business, but looks like they're starting at 15 Mb/s and 30 Mb/s. Still, that is up AND down. XMission...

Comcast gives me 10 Mb/s at the moment due to the fact that fiber optic direct to the house will be rolling out in my area over the next few months. 100Mb/s up and down. :: rubs hands greedily ::

Yes, it should be silkscreened directly onto the board. I've seen them placed next to the model number or next to the lowest PCI slot before, but i suppose it could be anywhere. Edit: However, since PCB Revision 1.0 supports it... I would say all revisions do. I don't think Gigabyte uses...

DVD-RW won't recognize DVD-R.

NaiMan, Since your drive(s) can apparently recognize a blank disc, i think your problem is different. I don't have any advice at the moment though.

DVD-RW won't recognize DVD-R.

I have an NEC 1300a that does the same thing. It won't recognize writable media whether it's blank or already written on any longer. It will only recognize pressed DVDs. I'm betting the drive is bad.
