Windows98se vs. ZoneAlarm

Trouble Booting with New Motherboard, Please help

Magnetic Shields

I just got a pair of shielded woofers. It appears that there is simply a piece of thin sheet metal formed around the magnet acting as the shield. My question in... how does the metal prevent the magnetic field from radiating from the magnet? Does the metal absorb or deflect the flux? What types...

How to reassign an icon to .jpg files?

With windows XP the instructions from Dave will work fine... to get the "open with" option in windows 98 you will have to single click the file (so its highlighted) then hold the shift key, then right click.

ASUS P4PE: Jumperfree Mode???

I have the same thing with my P4GE mobo... Apparently the mobo is already (and always will be) in jumperfree mode - because there are no jumpers on the mobo. For some reason ASUS didnt change the BIOS from the old days when there were jumpers on the mobo. Setting the CPU speed to manual should...

Help with blue screen of death stop errors

lol @ MS Knowledge Anyways it sounds like bad RAM, maybe a bad hard drive. Just try swaping stick of RAM 1 at a time, and try different RAM slots on the mobo. Try to download memtest86 and run that to check the RAM. Try running scandisk in windows to check the hard drive. Good luck

CDRW light flickers every one or two seconds

About the burning smell, try taking the case off the computer, let it run and just feel around on the drive to see if it's getting hot. Some drives - especially cheap ones will run warm - but shouldnt get hot.

There's static in my audio output

Probably a bad connection where the speakers plug into the sound card. Try twisting the connector around while its plugged in. If the static get better or worse while moving the cord, its probably a bad cord.
