Thanks for the response. However, I do think there is a need for RAID. One of my goals is reliability, with a single drive I'm subject to its failure at any given time.

I need a NAS device for backups and quick restores. I'm trying to be under $1500-$2000. I need gigabit ethernet and somewhere between 500GB - 1TB effective storage. As well, since this is for backups, I need RAID1 or RAID5. I don't need blazing speed just reasonably quick backup and restore. The...
What speed media and burner are you using? That's about how long I take with 8x media and a Sony DW-G120A. I also do a verify so it takes a little longer for my burns.
Hey n0c, been a long time, probably don't remember though. Everyone's been very helpful. Like I said there is still some more research for me to do but I think all the points expressed are pretty valid.

I have missed this forum, its the best on HW site on the 'net. I still have a lot of research to do about this shocking (well to me) announcement by Apple and I am sure there have been many threads on this but I just wanted some feedback. I've been using the Mac OS X platform almost since day...
eVGA? Hm, I will take a look at them. Yeah, I have a Leadtek in another box that has been rock solid for years, a GTS. Maybe I just got a bad one. Thanks everyone!

Hey guys. I got a Leadtek 6600GT PCIe a little over a month a go. I've had trouble with it since day one but I am only now getting around to dealing with it. I really have two problems and they may both be the video card.
1: If I don't put a fan directly beside the card, the thing will become...
Well you just want to Demux it. There are a myriad of Demuxing programs, like DVDLab is a full fledged authoring tool that also demuxes, but there are many tools which demux. When you do that you are just left with the mpeg2 and whatever audio streams you included (seperated).

Certainly, I realize they are not the same thing. It simply provides a simple way to replace a particular file. Are there other ways? Certainly, you can reboot to a recovery console and rename and so forth but that is just one way. You're talking about the general case when I was discussing this...
