maluckey, CompUSA does not sell Arctic Silver brand products. If you have the small syringe with the red cap, you do not have Arctic Silver. Nevin House Arctic Silver, Inc.

What's the purpose of that magnetic ring that the Reset/Power switches and LED wires go through?

It is a ferrite (iron) ring. With the wire(s) running through it, it forms a choke and blocks ultra high frequencies. (RF) Those lumps at the end(s) of your monitor cable are the same thing. Nevin House Arctic Silver, Inc.

AMD voids warranty if Artic Silver is used ...

One factor that may not be fully understood by everybody is that AMD only provides a warranty on their boxed processors. As they say on their site... There is no AMD warranty on OEM "tray" processors so there is no AMD warranty to void by using thermal grease. And on the boxed processors...

P4 Heat Spreader Hole and ASIII

Actually, I should probably change that to read old SLOT MOUNTED Intel Xeon processors. With the severe run out on the heat plates and heat sinks, we have seen gaps as large as 1/20th of an inch. If we formulated AS3 to work well with that large a gap, it would not work as well with P3s, P4s...

Arctic Silver I, II or III? Official Answers In Here...

Actually what can cause a problem with the thermal interface is a vibrating out-of-balance fan on the heatsink itself, not the number of fans. This will eventually cause a problem with any thermal compound. The problem shows up quicker with AS3 than our earlier products due to AS3's improved...

weight of Arctic Silver 2 (3gr.) tube?

7.65 grams is the weight of a syringe with 3 grams of compound. Most of them will have a little extra and weigh 7.8 to 7.9 grams. Nevin House Arctic Silver, Inc.

Emo, While there have not been any thermal compound tests published that used the P4 internal diode, there have been quite a few using the P3 or Celeron II internal diode. As Mikewarrior said, these chips with their smaller contact areas (Similar to AMD chips) are better interface material test...
