Hi guys,
I'm doing a fresh Skylake i7-6700K build. I have a Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7 board, and a Samsung 950 Pro Nvme M.2 SSD, which is my boot drive for Windows 10 and all other programs. And instead of directly plugging into the mobo's m.2 slot, I'm using the Lycom DT-120 M.2 PCIe to PCIe...
Thanks. I've had the unlimited plan for over 5 yrs, but I rarely used over 3GB. I kept it in case my data usage increased in the future. But at almost $100/mo, it's a very expensive "insurance" policy. It's too bad I can no longer transfer the UDP to someone else who might take advantage of it...
How can I do this? Just pop in the SIM card once I get it without activating? Or is there some step in the activation process I need to pay attention to? If I don't port my number over, do I just get assigned some new random number? And it's possible to port my number over later?
BTW, thanks...
This plan sounds like my best bet so far. I've already started the process by ordering the SIM card (for $0.99)
So it seems I will need to choose the $30 plan during the activation process, after receiving the SIM card?
Do you know how tethering would work on this Plan?
Also, how does the...
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help on deciding on a new smartphone plan.
I've been on Verizon's unlimited data plan for a long time. Prior to their $20 raise for grandfathered unlimited data customers, I was paying a very reasonable $69.99 / mon ($75 after taxes) for the following
450...
After a bit more research, I think I've found an even more optimal solution: Put the Samsung 950 pro into a M.2 to PCI-E adapter, and put that in the second PCIEx16 slot of the mobo. That way I can take advantage of the the higher performance of the 950 pro (vs the Intel 750), and have dedicated...
Thanks Insert_Nickname, I did some research into this DMI 3.0 link and it was very enlightening.
I get what you're saying now. So if I want to make full use of two high-end SSD's, the second drive should use one of the PCIe X16 slots, correct?
So for example, I can have one Samsung 950 pro...
From what I've read, the 2nd M.2 slot only shares bandwidth with the last PCIe x16 slot, and that's the tradeoff. I can either have a 2nd M.2 drive, or something in the last PCIe x16 slot. But I can certainly have two M.2 ssd drives going at once.
I'm planning a $1500-ish Skylake build (to be complete around Q1 of 2016),
I've settled on a lot of the crucial components already:
Core i5 6600K
MSI Radeon R9 390 GPU
Samsung 950 PRO Nvme m.2 SSD
But I'm unsure on a mobo. If I had to choose one right now, it would be the Gigabyte...
Thanks for the info. Never realized that there was such a tradeoff.
By mass photo processing, I mean Adobe Lightroom - importing lots of photos in a session, editing, and exporting in batch. I'm sure a build with any decent recent components will be fine with Photoshop, but Lightroom is a...
I've been running on a Core i7 860 rig for almost 6 years now, and I think the time is right to upgrade, now that Skylake is out. I'm looking to build a fairly high-end rig with a budget of around $1500. I need something that can handle mass photo processing well, on top of being just an...
