You're better off with the 7950 than the 8600. Even the 8600GTS wasn't showing that well compared to the 7950, from what I recall. However, given the price difference that you're seeing, the 8600 GTS might be worth a drop in performance if you don't need the ZOMG ROX!!11!~! performance.

If you want to install the 1.5 off of Mozilla's site, you'll need the right libstdc++ libraries. That's what I had to do. The install should be giving you an error on the missing library. From there, just use one of the various rpm finder sites and you're set.
Just found the info I'd sent...
2 years in computer time isn't that long for me. I'm currently on a 2.4 P4. My cpu before that was a 1.2 Athlon. Some of us just don't upgrade as frequently.
Hell, my wife's still using my 600Mhz Athlon as a 2nd system to her laptop ;)
I'm wondering how long some of these oc'd chips last. I've never bothered with oc'ing in the past but I may try a little with the next upgrade. Considering I'll probably have this computer a good 2-3 years then hand it off to the wife for probably another 2-3 years then probably use it for my...

Intel 486-33
Intel P100
AMD K6-2 400
AMD Athlon 600
AMD Athlon 1200
Intel P4 2.4
Intel P-M 1.4 for my laptop
I'm not really loyal to anyone these days. For a while, I was entirely pro-AMD. Now, I just want something stable and solid with reasonable performance.
I...
I do know what I'm missing. I'm pretty happy that I'm missing it, to be honest. Linux just isn't ready for the desktop yet. They've done a lot from the 90's but they've still got a long way to go before I'd consider it as a primary desktop. I'd hardly consider it a gaming OS at all. Most of...
Samba's the most popular for end-users, casual users and smaller shops. For large, corporate shops, NFS as many of us supporting Linux come from a Unix background and are used to Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, etc.
Samba's still the best choice for this request, though ;)
Just to be sure we sound like a broken record, I'll chime in as well. Unless you're playing Battlefield 2 or such, upgrading RAM is not the problem. A better graphics card is needed.
