Thing is, its difficult to get a job when all you can really list on your resume is that I've been building computers for 6 years and I'm a year away from graduating college.

What the heck is going on here?

You know, i chanted the % so it says 400mhz fsb when i boot, but no software recognizes my ram running at 400mhz, and no benchmark scores suggest that it is. I guess im confused by those ram speed settings.

Buying OEM Hardware...

Orcish, that would be more correct if you were talking about refurbished items, but not oem. An oem product (99/100) of the time is simply the EXACT same product in a cheap package. After it rolls off the assembly line its put with the bare minimum extras and sold like that. I really doubt...

whats better 1gig of ram or 512mb

Well, if you are like me and play world war 2 online in windows XP.....you need all the ram you can get! I have 512 and i would like more. Well, either way more is better... Though it really depends on what you are doing with it...

Soundcards - worth double the money?

Am i the only one throwing out 100 bucks for teh hercules gaming theator XP? :) I figured it out, and with my 180ish aloted to me id might as well go with the XP....since my alternative was more than 120 dollars...heh So now ill get more small things...and one big nice fancy sound card system.

PC wont power up, best steps to take?

Well, we can assume its either a PSU or mobo failure. (this girl's apt power went out, now no power up). So, what would be the best and simplist course of action to test the psu and mobo? Any help would be apreciated, thanks.

Building a new system... A7V266, K7T266Pro, or K7S5A

Id go with the ECS simply because its sooo freaking cheap, yet being everybit as fast as the other boards....faster even. Sure you lack some features...but if you plan on going with somthing like a 1.4 or there abouts theres no need to OC. IMHO anyways.
